Something that always bugged me about the fandom's view of Wallace, is that because he wears thin clothing, it for some reason means he's gay. For one, the logic behind that is completely skewed. A gay guy isn't always flamboyant or wear skimpy clothing. Most homosexuals I see just act like normal people, nothing out of the ordinary, just a normal person. But yet, the internet has made it so that if a guy is prancing around in drag, or in Wallace's case thin clothing, it means they're gay. And the reasoning behind Gamefreak's clothing choice for him isn't hard to see.  
For one, he's a water type trainer. And where do you see water type trainers most often? In the water. It would only make sense for him to wear clothing such as this, so it doesn't weigh him down when he gets out of the water. 
And for a second reason (Don't know if this is canon in the games, but it is in the anime), he's a contest star. You need to wear flashy clothing to dazzle the audience. Hell, even your character puts on flashy or skimpy clothing. 
Honestly, everytime someone calls Wallace gay because of his clothing, I just groan and roll my eyes at how shallow they are.
